The newly established Institute for Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine (iTERM) develops and implements 3D imaging technologies to enable development of personalized medicine for complicated diseases including cancer, neurodegeneration and metabolic disorders. At iTERM, we bring together cutting-edge science from biology, chemistry, engineering, and computer applications. Our overarching aim is to study biological systems as a whole in an unbiased way. We use deep learning-based algorithms (AI) to analyze large imaging and molecular data.
We are seeking a highly motivated and talented PI level scientist (at least 3 years of experience as a group leader) or senior postdoc (at least 4 years of experience in guiding projects and students) (f/m/x) to act as the Deputy Director of our Institute.
Your responsibilities
She/he should have excellent biotechnology knowledge and high organizational skills to manage diverse scientific projects and grants. The candidate will support the development of strategic institutional targets, mentoring students and manuscript preparations. The candidate will also support grant applications in the institute and will be responsible for coordinating and managing the post-award activities including communication with multiple academic/legal partners. The candidate will support hiring process for new talents and the communication with HR. The candidate will also support the activities around our spin-off.
Your qualifications
A PhD in Life or Computer Sciences field and several years of post-doctoral experience in a relevant field (i.e: in vivo mouse work, cell culture, organoids, omics, nanotechnology, 3-D bioprinting).
Extensive experience in supervising PhD students and postdocs.
Broad experience in project management and grant applications.
Demonstrated aptitude to organize, coordinate and write scientific reports, manuscripts and grant applications.
Finally, excellent communication skills in English, team player mentality, independence and problem-solving skills are expected.

Provided that the prerequisites are fulfilled, a salary level up to E 15 is possible. Social benefits are based on the collective agreement for the federal public service (TVöD). The position is (initially) limited to 2 years, under certain circumstances an extension can be arranged.
