The Paul Scherrer Institute PSI is the largest research institute for natural and engineering sciences within Switzerland. We perform cutting-edge research in the fields of matter and materials, energy and environment and human health. By performing fundamental and applied research, we work on sustainable solutions for major challenges facing society, science and economy. PSI is committed to the training of future generations. Therefore about one quarter of our staff are post-docs, post-graduates or apprentices. Altogether PSI employs 2100 people.

Postdoctoral Fellow Ultrafast condensed matter
80% or more, flextime
Collaborating in an interdisciplinary environment, your team investigates the ultrafast dynamics of electronic, magnetic and structural properties in Perovskite-related materials. To understand interactions in solids and how they determine dynamical and static properties, you rely on ultrafast techniques, mainly X-ray probes. For X-ray scattering and spectroscopy experiments on ultrafast time scales, you have access to our free-electron laser SwissFEL and the soft X-ray FURKA beamline.
You have an academic background in physics with a Ph.D.
You're enthusiastic about supporting the PSI Microscopy and Magnetism team in their efforts to understand complex oxides' physics and ultrafast dynamics at the atomic level
You feel comfortable discussing methods, sharing findings, and communicating effectively in English in a multinational community of research teams
You have handled femtosecond lasers in past experiments
Our institution is based on an interdisciplinary, innovative and dynamic collaboration. You will profit from a systematic training on the job, in addition to personal development possibilities and our pronounced vocational training culture. If you wish to optimally combine work and family life or other personal interests, we are able to support you with our modern employment conditions and the on-site infrastructure.
Your employment contract is limited to 2 years.
