TERMS & CONDITIONS

GENERAL CONDITIONS

  1. The Nano World Challenge is run by the Nanotechnology World Association (NWA).

  2. By entering the competition, you hereby warrant that all of the information that you submit are accurate and complete in every respect.

  3. There is no fee to enter the competition.

  4. Each team is allowed only one entry for the same project.

  5. To enter the competition, you must apply through our website www.nanotechnologyworld.org. You must:

    • Read the terms and conditions

    • Fill out the application form.

    • Submit the application before the deadline.

  6. Winning companies will automatically obtain a free membership to NWA and benefit of the support of NWA extended network.

  7. Winning companies will be eligible to join our mentorship program.

  8. If you are selected as a semifinalist, you will be notified of your selection via email. If you fail to respond within 1 week of being notified, you will automatically forfeit your right to compete in the second round. If you do not provide the required information needed for the next phase of the competition within the specified deadline, you will forfeit your right to compete in the second round.

  9. Any changes to the attending team must be communicated with our management team for approval.

  10. Semifinalist teams must attend the pitch competition & the final award ceremony in person. This event will be held during the Nanotechnology Show in Edison, New Jersey, in October 2020. At least one member per team must attend.

  11. Teams are expected to work on and submit specific deliverables prior to the pitch competition.Qualified teams are not required to pay any expense to the pitch competition, however participants are expected to pay for their own flights and accommodation in Edison, NJ, USA

  12. The calendar of the competition will be posted on our website, and we reserve the right to change any date at any time.

  13. Personal information collected about you is used for the purpose of the competition, and will not be distributed to third parties without your consent.

  14. NWA will claim 2% equity, post the investment round from investors, over winning projects. Winners will benefit from all NWA's exposure during the competition, on site and online. Winners will obtain a free Corporate Membership to join the Association, and will have access to all the benefits that comes with it. 

 

ORGANIZATION OF THE COMPETITION

  1. Applications are accepted in English only.

  2. All Startups will go through 2 rounds of judging:

  3. In Round One, teams must fill and submit an online application that consists of twelve sections.

  4. In Round One, the technical aspect of each project will be validated by experts in that field. Once the project obtain the technical validation, the application will be forwarded to another team in charge of reviewing the business plan, financials, scalability and commerciality of the technology and the management team.

  5. In Round One: 10 teams will be selected. These teams will have scored the highest average score on their application forms. NWA reserves the right to modify the number of selected teams.

  6. To be eligible for Round Two, the semifinalist teams must submit certain deliverables that will be communicated to them in due time. The semifinalist teams must also sign the “Engagement Letter”. All persons whose names are mentioned as part of the team must sign the form.

  7. In Round Two, the selected semifinalist teams are required to attend the pitch competition and the award ceremony. The pitch competition is led in English. At least one of the team members who will be attending the pitch competition must be fluent in English.

  8. The semifinalist teams are required to pitch in front of a judging panel during the pitch competition where they will have 5 minutes to present.

  9. Following the pitch competition, the jury will spend 10 minutes with each team for a Q&A session. After the oral presentations and Q&A session of the second round, the jury will deliberate and select the winners.

  10. The pitch competition will be open to the Nanotechnology Show attendees and the public will be able to vote for their favorite project through an online application.

  11. Information about the judging panel will be available on our website as soon as the judges are confirmed.

  12. The winning projects will be announced at the award ceremony.

 

PRIZES

  1. Cash prizes will be awarded to winning teams.

  2. Prize money will only be transferred to the legal entity specified in the Engagement Letter.

  3. Prize money will NOT be transferred to individuals.

  4. If the startup was not registered as a legal entity within the 3 months following the competition, The Nano World Challenge will no longer transfer the money prize.

 

INVESTMENTS

  1. All project submitted online can be presented to investors whether or not they are selected to attend the pitch competition.

  2. All semi-finalists will be able to attend the networking sessions with investors present at the pitch competition.

  3. Only the Winners will receive cash prizes, but all participants could receive investment.

 

DISQUALIFICATION

  1. The Nano World Challenge reserves the right to disqualify any entry at any phase of the competition. The reasons for disqualification can be a breach of any of the rules, breach of eligibility criteria, breach of any applicable law, bad conduct or offensive behavior, or invalid answers contained in the applications.

 

LIABILITY

  1. The Nano World Challenge reserves the right to amend these rules at any time.

  2. In the event of any misinterpretation regarding these rules, the conduct or results of the competition, or any other matter relating to the competition, the decision of the Nano World Challenge shall be final and unchallenged.

  3. While every care is taken to ensure that the competition runs successfully, the Nano World Challenge will not be held responsible for any loss, damage, inconvenience, or disappointment of any kind suffered by any entrant resulting from the competition.

  4. The nano World Challenge does not endorse any external linked sites and is not responsible for their content.
