ImageTAG provides non-thermal, high-precision glass processing using its patented laser technology. This enables them to produce channels in glass with extremely high precision and accuracy. They offer these high precision manufacturing services to companies and research institutes that require sub-micron precision in their processes. ImageTAG (Ion Milling Technology for Advanced Glass) manufactures micro and nano fluidic products, such as lab-on-a-chip systems. These systems are typically used for analysis in laboratories, where small volumes of liquid are processed. Their manufacturing process allows for positioning accuracy in the sub-micron range, a significant improvement over the tens of microns achievable with conventional laser ablation technology (which is essentially a thermal process). Glass structuring: ImageTAG's process enables the generation of structures in glass with aspect ratios of up to 1:10. Their process produces smooth side walls and surfaces of optical quality. Applications: The unique advantages of the technology can be exploited for the manufacture of micro and nano fluidic devices, micro-optics, and micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS). For all these applications, the process usually involves two important steps: material removal and material modification.
