EpoQ is a pre-incorporation quantum technology venture led by researchers based at the University of Amsterdam. It is developing compact trapped-ion atomic clocks that combine microfabricated ion-trap technology, ultraviolet integrated photonics, and automated electronic control, using trapped ytterbium ions as a stable frequency reference. The aim is to reduce the size, weight, power consumption, and complexity of laboratory-based systems for applications in metrology, maritime defence, and space.
