Sound Enclosure

By Qsonica

For Q2000 Sonicator The Q2000 can produce sound in excess of 100dB, so hearing protection is required. A sound enclosure protects both the user and anyone nearby by reducing the noise to safe levels. This eliminates the need for everyone in the room to use earplugs or headphones. Two models of enclosures are available. Part #4474 is made for use with a Q2000 system and probe. Part #4475 is for the use with a Flocell. Both models have ports on either side for coolant tubing or temperature monitoring probes. The interior walls are lined with water resistant acoustical foam. Stands are not included with the enclosure and are sold separately. Standard Probes

Standard Probes For Q500 / Q700 Sonicators Horns (also known as probes) are made from titanium and machined to specific sizes and shapes. When driven at their resonant frequency, they expand and contract longitudinally. This mechanical vibration is amplified and transmitted down the length of the probe. In liquid, the probe causes cavitation which constitutes the main mechanism for sample processing. Choosing the appropriate horn is extremely important. The sample volume to be processed is directly related to the tip diameter. Smaller tip diameters (Microtip probes) deliver high intensity sonication, but the energy is focused within a small, concentrated area. Larger tip diameters can process larger volumes, but offer lower intensity. Probes are offered with replaceable or solid tips. Probe tips will pit or erode over time and require replacement. Using an excessively worn tip can affect your results and possibly overload the generator. Solid probes must be used for samples containing organic solvents or low surface tension liquids. 15ml and 50ml Tube Holder

The 15ml and 50ml tube holders are made to accommodate conical screw cap tubes. In addition to these tube holders, Qsonica can design and manufacture custom sample tube racks to meet your specific process requirements. Please contact a Qsonica representative for more information. Photos show 431C2 cup horn with tube holder. Cup horn accessory is sold separately. Use of polystyrene or similar tube material is recommended. Polypropylene or soft plastics do not work as efficiently and will result in poor sample processing.
