Master in Advanced Materials

By Institute of Molecular Science- ICMol

Interuniversity Master / Advanced Materials Study in a center of excellence with internationally recognized researchers OFFICIAL DEGREE - INTENSIVE 60 CREDITS one year INTENSIVE 3 weeks in January 3 weeks in May REGISTRATION OPEN Multidisciplinary training in fundamental and applied aspects of advanced materials such as 2D materials and those used in energy, environment, ICTs, advanced electronics and healthcare. Addressed to Graduates in Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Medicine, Engineerings and related degrees. Presentation The Master responds to the academic and research profile and provides a multidisciplinary training in the fundamental and applied aspects of Materials Science, with special emphasis on areas of growing interest such as 2D materials, energy (e.g. energy storage, green hydrogen generation, photovoltaics, electrocatalysis, photocatalysis), environment (e.g. membranes for separation/removal of toxins, CO2 capture and valorisation), information technologies (including quantum technologies), advanced electronics (e.g. advanced materials for microelectronics, photonics, opto-electronics, spintronics), and health (e.g. smart materials for drug delivery, contrast agents, theragnostic agents), among others. This knowledge covers the following aspects: • design, preparation and processing of materials and devices. • study of their physical and/or chemical properties by means of experimental techniques and theoretical modelling. • development of applications. The focus of the master's degree is at the intersection between physics, chemistry, biology/medicine and engineering, making it truly interdisciplinary. Its inter-university nature allows the scientific community working, researching and collaborating in these strategic lines to be strengthened. This master's degree is one of the main collaborative actions foreseen in the Complementary Plan on Advanced Materials (Plan Complementario de Materiales Avanzados) of the Spanish Government's Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (Plan de Recuperación, Transformación y Resiliencia) (2021-2026). Goals • To train students for research in advanced materials or to develop a professional activity in high-tech companies. • To create a multidisciplinary and competitive scientific community in Spain to research in these subjects. In this respect, the master is a suitable framework for the promotion of mobility and interaction between students from different scientific areas and contacts with other universities, research centres and companies operating in this area. Centres and facilities Participating universities Each of the universities participating in the master's program has a centre responsible* for it. The professors of the master's degree are part of several research groups of recognized prestige which are themself integrated in research institutes and structures. Students will have access to the most advanced facilities and laboratories in material science available in these centres: Universitat de València (UV) - ICMol - Institute of Molecular Science* Universidad de Alicante (UA) - Faculty of Sciences* - IUMA - University Institute of Materials Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM) - Faculty of Sciences* - IMDEA Nanociencia Universitat de Barcelona (UB) - Faculty of Chemistry* - IQTC - Institute of Theoretical and Computational Chemistry Universidad de Castilla-La Mancha (UCLM) - Faculty of Sciences and Chemistry Technologies of Ciudad Real* - IRICA - Regional Institute for Applied Scientific Research - Instituto de Investigaciones Energéticas y Aplicaciones Industriales - Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingeniería Industrial de Ciudad Real Universidad de Málaga (UMa) - Faculty of Sciences* Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) - Technical School of Industrial Engineering* - IDM - Inter-University Institute for Molecular Recognition Research and Technological Development Universidad de Santiago de Compostela (USC) - Faculty of Chemistry* - CiQUS - Singular Centre for Research in Biological Chemistry and Molecular Materials - Instituto de Materiales (IMATUS) Universidad de Zaragoza (UNIZAR) - Faculty of Sciences* - INMA - Institute of Nanoscience and Materials of Aragon * Responsible center in each University Career opportunities Graduates of the Master's Degree in Advanced Materials will be highly qualified to work in various fields, both carrying out a doctoral thesis and applied research in R&D companies, contributing to the development and application of new functional materials in key sectors.
