Protecting Research Results

To identify the most appropriate strategy for managing intellectual property, we provide the expertise and experience needed to help our researchers protect new technologies and innovative solutions. We evaluate the results generated by CSIC research groups and prepare applications tailored to the specific characteristics of each innovation, ensuring protection through the most suitable intellectual property rights. These range from the most common form of protection—patents—to less widely known mechanisms such as trade secrets, as well as plant variety rights, utility models and software registration, among others. We also advise researchers on the design of Proof of Concept (PoC) projects aimed at increasing the technology readiness of the protected results.
