Medical Coating

By microdrop GmbH

Medical coating is a specialized surface treatment, which improves the safety, performance or compatibility of the medical device, its parts, stents or implants. These items can be coated with lubricants, antimicrobial substances, drugs or other liquids. Microdrop dispensing technology enables the precise application of the coating material in low volumes: picoliter-, nanoliter-, or microliter. Microdrop offers different pipettes, according to the required volume and viscosities to ensure perfect coating quality, efficient material usage, and flexible processing. Medical Coating Application Highlights: - Highly precise medical coating deposition/ microdispensing of reagents, biomolecules, functional materials onto medical components like stents, catheters, artificial joints, artificial valves, etc. - Reliable microdispensing of sensitive bioactive liquids, polymers, etc. called medical coating - Flexible automation for complex geometries and demanding production requirements in microdispensing onto medical devices Medical coatings are commonly used for: Medical Device Coatings / Surface Functionalization - Heparin (anti-thrombogenic) coating on stents - Drugs/ APIs on implants to prevent infections - Lubrication on catheters/ guidewires - Regenerative to rejecting/preventing/supporting tissue growth at orthopaedic joints, artificial valves, etc. ... and much more. Need support with your medical coating application?
