For applications where regulatory requirements restrict the use of lead, Silex is developing KNN (potassium sodium niobate) as a lead-free alternative within the same foundry environment, enabling customers to access comparable piezoelectric performance while meeting RoHS and REACH compliance requirements. Both materials are offered within a single, integrated process platform. Today, that platform supports a multi-material offering within a single 200 mm foundry environment, including PZT for high-performance applications, KNN for lead-free and regulated markets, and AlN where thermal stability and CMOS compatibility are priorities.
