CAT-Technology: the new standard in adhesion and cohesion testing. Up to 8 samples simultaneously. THE LUMiFrac® MASTERS THESE KINDS OF ANALYSES - Centrifugal adhesion testing - Shear & tensile pull-off test - Bonding strength - Adhesive strength - Coating strength - Foil & composite strength - Failure patterns - Fatigue & climate tests - Surface treatment testing - High sample flexibility, no clamping - Multisample test NO NEED TO CLAMP THE SAMPLE - SIMPLY INSERT AND START - Easy preparation of your test specimen - Up to 8 samples are analysed under identical conditions - No sample clamping at all - simply insert and start - Variable testing speeds - Flexible load cycling - Wide range of test forces (0.1 N up to 6.5 kN) - Test specimen for determination of tensile and shear strength - Testing under various temperatures - Cost-saving multi-use of test stamps LUMiFrac® – An innovative instrument for adhesion and cohesion determination. Winner of the innovation prize Berlin-Brandenburg 2012. The LUMiFrac is the new benchmark for determining adhesive strength (winner of the Berlin-Brandenburg 2012 Innovation Award). It employs centrifugal forces to stress multiple samples at once. It provides adhesive and tensile strength as well as shear strength as an absolute physical quantity in N/mm² (MPa). The LUMiFrac accomplishes this by directly applying an incrementally increasing centrifugal force to the specimen being tested. It determines with high resolution the RPM at the moment of fracturing (employing CAT-Technology = Centrifugal Adhesion Testing Technology). All data is transmitted to the well-known and popular operating software SEPView, which automatically calculates and displays the critical force/strength of failure in real time. Furthermore, it allows to analyze, compare & calculate statistics and combine results for up to tens of samples. Related data, as figures of fracture pattern, may be taken into account as well. Test sample positioning is as simple as 1-2-3. No clamping or special precautions are needed. Just slide up to 8 samples into marked rotor locations and you are ready to go. The unique multisample approach of testing 8 samples simultaneously results in an unparalleled accuracy and reduces measuring time by 85%. Starting as an idea for an easier and time-saving determination of adhesive properties, the multipatented new adhesion testing technology now revolutionizes the analysis of your composite materials and bonded parts. You can even work with multi-layered films; having an immense variety of applications. The LUMiFrac is a research and QC tool for the adhesive formulation and surface treatment industry; lacquer coatings, joint wood products, composite materials in automotive and aircraft industries, adhesive tapes, multilayer foils for packaging or thin metal films on plastics and optical substrates, e.g., eyeglasses, mirrors, and many more. Different test stamps are available to cover more than enough material combinations and to enable a wide range of applied loads. In order to facilitate sample preparation specially designed tools are available. Combine everything you have just read, put it into action, and it makes for not exceptionally accurate and reproducible data, but also for an exceptionally happy user. The LUMiFrac comes certified, factory precalibrated and is ready-to-go. It is the only instrument in the world that enables you to perform physically accelerated, direct and efficient stability testing and ranking of your formulations. It features an advanced optical system enabling multi-sample analysis at user defined speeds, light intensities and temperatures. The optical blocks consist of high-powered special light sources of different wavelengths. The parallel light illuminates the whole sample from top to bottom. Even the smallest changes across the entire sample height are detected by a sensor featuring high optical and spatial resolution. Immediate data collection ensures the ability to measure everything that occurs in your sample; no matter how simple or complex. There is no need to dilute or to know any material constants; just input your samples and you have your results. By looking at the fingerprint patterns of the whole sample, you can classify and understand the causes of instability, e. g. creaming, sedimentation or flocculation, as well as measure and rank stability. Use this knowledge to develop new formulations and optimize current ones easily. You can analyse up to eight different samples simultaneously in a wide range of viscosities and virtually any concentrations at operator preset temperatures (+/- 0.5 K). A truly one-of-a-kind feature also allows you to measure the separation behaviour and magnetic properties of micro- and nano particles in variable superimposed orthogonal or parallel magnetic fields in addition to the conventional sedimentation field. This provides you with the unique opportunity to analyse magnetic nano- and microparticles. Comes with state-of-the-art software SEPView. It may be recalculated in terms of clarification and particle concentration. Each LUMiReader contains an optical block and temperature control element. In addition, the specially designed PSA module also opens new horizons for high resolution particle sizing and allows you to measure the velocity distribution of separating particles. There is no need for you to know any material constants such as viscosity or density. Our proprietary design ensures that the light strikes the sample across its entire height, ensuring maximum optical sensitivity and reproducibility. The optical detector assembly features micro-scale spatial resolution capable of accurately measuring even the smallest local changes instantaneously across the entire sample height. This design eliminates the time-consuming and less accurate task of scanning your sample, allowing you to capture even very fast micro-changes occuring in your dispersion without mechanical vibration. The LUMiReader also uses a patented tilt technology based on the Boycott effect. The well-known principle allows accelerated, real-time stability testing at gravity by tilting the sample from its normal upright position. The magnitude of acceleration (up to 10 times) depends on geometric factors, such as tilt angle, vial dimensions, and sample type. Analyse in a wide range of viscosities, temperatures, and concentrations. With the advantage of looking at the entire sample from top to bottom instantaneously, you can observe and understand different stability/instability phenomena concurrently; for example, creaming, sedimentation coalescence, aggregation and flocculation at original product concentration. Comes with state-of-the-art software SEPView. The LUMiReader comes certified, factory pre-calibrated and is ready-to-go. International norms and guidelines THE LUMiReader® PSA MEETS THE FOLLOWING STANDARDS ASTM D7827 CFR 21 Part 11 ISO 13317-1 ISO 13317-5 ISO 18747-1 ISO 20427 ISO/TR 13097 MATERIAL OVERVIEW The following materials can be analyzed with the LUMiReader® PSA Abrasives Asphaltenes Carbon black Ceramics Crude oil Fine chemicals Food Gas oil Ink Petrol Pharmaceutical dispersions Polymers Sludges Slurries and many more materials. MULTI-WAVELENGTHS Determination of the volume-weighted particle size distribution The LUMiReader PSA allows for the first time the determination of the volume based particle size distribution (ISO 13317) for emulsions and suspensions, without the necessity of knowing the refractive index or software input and no assumption regarding particle shape and shape distribution. This opens new horizons for the characterization of industrial products, where above parameters are often not available or not applicable. LUM’s patented STEP-Technology, the measurement of Space and Time-resolved Extinction Profiles, was extended to an unique new multi-wavelength approach: alterations of ratio of transmission at different wavelengths monitors any particle or droplet size variation over product life without sizing particles itself. Giving particle size distribution (ISO 13317), separation velocity distribution and hydrodynamic particle density in addition to the direct stability result according to ISO TR 13097, the new LUMiReader PSA is one instrument for the comprehensive understanding of complex industrial products in an easy way.
