316L Stainless Steel Flakes

By Steward Advanced Materials

316L is produced for use in demanding applications that require superior corrosion resistance and abrasion resistance. 316 stainless steel incorporates about 2 to 3 percent molybdenum that increases corrosion resistance, particularly against chlorides and other industrial solvents beyond that of other 300 series steels. 316 stainless steel is used in many industrial applications involving processing chemicals, as well as high-saline environments such as coastal regions and outdoor areas where de-icing salts are common. Principal uses include coatings for heavy industrial equipment for the chemical and food industries and coatings for high wear parts on off-road vehicles.

Stainless Steel Flakes

Our stainless steel flakes are manufactured from 316L and 434L. However, many other compositions can be produced if required. Stainless steel flakes are finely divided with a uniform particle size that can be adjusted to customer specifications. These flakes are recommended for use in water and solvent based paint or coating systems.

Ceramic Materials

Our staff has extensive knowledge in processing various ceramic materials for demanding applications such as energy storage, catalysts, adsorbents, filters, and specialty additives. Customers come to us for high value differentiated materials that require a disciplined approach to development, leading to tight process and quality control.

Highly-Engineered Metallic and Ceramic Powders

We are a premier manufacturer of highly-engineered metallic and ceramic powders, with a focus on low and high-frequency electromagnetic absorption, corrosion resistance, thermal stability, and weight reduction. Our processing techniques include non-aqueous, aqueous, and dry processing methods. This allows us to manufacture complex or simple chemistries.

Electromagnetic Materials

We offer a broad range of electromagnetic materials, such as metal alloys and ferrites that are utilized into coatings and other elastomers and resin systems for EMI, RF and microwave absorption. Lightweight materials are available with aspect ratio for weight reduction, as well as spherical particles with tailored particle distributions to optimize loading concentrations and maximize performance. We have the capability to create platelet shaped particles from magnetic alloys. If required, we can enhance corrosion resistance and dielectric properties through proprietary treatment processes. Magnetic materials for high-temperature applications are also available, upon request. Custom materials can be developed to support your unique applications and requirements. Applications include (but are not limited to): Coatings to attenuate and absorb energy; Loaded into elastomers, thermoplastics and other polymer resin systems for extrusion or thermo-moldable parts and components; Thin flexible EMI tape for shielding and absorption; Microwave quick-cure or heat susceptors; Automotive ignition cable for RF absorption; Thermoplastic welding; Magnetic tagging
