Self-Cleaning Coating (MOST nanoparticles aqueous suspension)

By Microporous Oxides Science & Technology, LLC

An aqueous suspension containing a mixture of MOST nanoparticles, when applied to an uncoated surface and allowed to adhere, will help to clean the surface when rinsed with water. Exposure to a UV light source such as the sun, or simply warming, will adhere the coating to the surface (i.e., glass, metal, etc.). There are two points to note about using this suspension. 1) It may not adhere well to glass surfaces that have been previously coated with other materials. 2) This suspension has a short shelf-life of about one week and must be used quickly.

Bench-Scale CO2 Purification Unit

An early commercial product from MOST was the bench-scale CO2 purification unit shown here. The purification unit incorporates a catalyst that utilizes oxygen entrained in a stream of CO2 to oxidize trace amounts of hydrocarbons in the CO2, producing more CO2 and water vapor as reaction products. As such, the purification unit acts as a final polishing step in treating hydrocarbon-based contaminants. Results from demonstration studies obtained with this unit are presented in the Application Note. A particular market for CO2 purification is precision cleaning of materials such as semiconductors.

Mixed Zirconia-Titania Sol

MOST offers a mixed zirconia-titania sol for PCO applications as it has not proven effective for electrically enhanced PCO.
