Gold Nanorods (GNRs)

By Sona Nanotech Inc.

Sona Nanotech’s Targeted Hyperthermia Therapy™ (THT) is a next-generation precision cancer treatment that uses CTAB-free, uniquely biocompatible gold nanorods (GNRs) to deliver controlled, localized heat directly into solid tumors. This precise thermal activation induces apoptotic cancer cell death, reveals tumor antigens, and helps activate the immune system. Sona’s patented, CTAB-free, uniquely biocompatible gold nanorods (GNRs) are delivered directly into solid tumors via intratumoral injection. When activated by near-infrared (NIR) light tuned to their same wavelength, the GNRs gently heat tumors from the inside, triggering apoptotic cell death* and revealing tumor neoantigens that help the immune system better engage to fight the tumor cancer. Sona’s CTAB-free, uniquely biocompatible gold nanorods eliminate the toxicity concerns associated with legacy gold nanorod technologies. Independent validation from the US NIH’s National Cancer Institute’s Nanotechnology Characterization Laboratory (NCL) reassessed Sona’s GNRs as stable and free of detectable endotoxins.

Sona Gold Nanorods (GNRs)

Rod-shaped nanoparticles made of gold Sizes of 10 to 100 nanometers in length Nanometer is one-billionth of a meter Produced by chemical synthesis Can be conjugated to different molecules Gold nanorods (GNRs) are small particles whose surface plasmon resonance (SPR) frequencies can be altered by modifying their length and width, giving them properties useful in a host of applications, including diagnostics, optical biomedical imaging, and photothermal therapies, to name a few. Our gold nanorod products offer a highly functionalized and robust manufacturing process. - Lengths from 25-60 nm - Typical widths from 10-15 nm - CTAB free & Bio-Compatible - Wide colour spectrum - Long shelf life - Functionalized surface properties Sona’s gold nanorods are CTAB-free, meaning they are manufactured without the cytotoxic surfactant used in conventional gold nanorod production. This makes them uniquely biocompatible for use in humans. They have been validated by the NCI Nanotechnology Characterization Laboratory and used in a completed first-in-human clinical study.

Toxin-free Gold Nanorods

Toxin-free gold nanorods that could be manufactured cost-effectively and at volume. After months of experimenting with different methods and chemicals, the team had its 'eureka' moment and finally succeeded in developing gold nanorods free of CTAB. Sona's inception was followed by years of hard work to perfect the process and develop the ability to synthesize large volumes of high-quality gold nanorods.
