Analysis of rheological properties

By Institute for Advanced Chemistry of Catalonia (IQAC-CSIC)

Determination of the rheological properties of fluids and soft materials under flow and deformation regimes through steady-state (viscosity, shear thinning, shear thickening) and dynamic measurements (elastic and viscous moduli, relaxation time, gelation time, etc.) Controlled-stress rheometer with magnetic bearings that allow very low torques of 0.003 mN.m to be applied. Temperature is controlled with a Peltier system, enabling measurements between -10°C and 200°C. It has concentric cylinder, cone-plate and plate-plate geometries, as well as rough geometries for working with gels. It also has a device to control the temperature of the upper plate and an interfacial rheometry accessory.
