For more than 40 years, the Institute for Radioecology and Radiation Protection (formerly the Centre for Radiation Protection and Radioecology) has offered courses to acquire and update expertise in radiation protection. All courses offered at the IRS are recognised by the Lower Saxony Ministry for the Environment, Climate Protection and Energy and are therefore valid throughout Germany. The qualification in radiation protection is a mandatory and precisely defined requirement in the Radiation Protection Act and the Radiation Protection Ordinance for persons who are to take over the activities of the radiation protection commissioner. The courses offered by the IRS cover a broad spectrum of activities in the technical field according to the Radiation Protection Ordinance.
