Small and Wide Angle X ray Scattering Service

By Institute for Advanced Chemistry of Catalonia (IQAC-CSIC)

The SAXS-WAXS service provides structural measurements using a variety of measurement systems for crystalline and semi-crystalline materials. The range of distances of interest lies within the nanoscale domain (0.2-100 nm). Materials include surfactant solutions, liquid crystals, mesoporous materials, microemulsions, proteins in solution, DNA in solution, and any type of material with electron density discontinuities within the aforementioned range. Measurement with point-collimation SAXS-WAXS equipment: Preparation, temperature control, and measurement of the sample in X-ray equipment using a point beam. Measurement using the GISAXS method: Grazing-incidence measurement. Use of the 2D detector (CCD camera) in the SAXS-WAXS equipment: Replacement of the linear detector of the point-collimation SAXS-WAXS equipment with a 2D detector (CCD camera).
