By Berkeley Advanced Biomaterials Inc.
Berkeley Advanced Biomaterials (BAB) specializes in developing and manufacturing hydroxyapatite (HAP), tricalcium phosphate (TCP), and other calcium-based products. Hydroxyapatite (Ca10(PO4)6(OH)2) is a form of calcium phosphate that has a large number of applications such as separation and purification of proteins, bone implants, and drug delivery systems. For each application, the use of calcium-based materials is optimized by specifying their geometry, dimension, density, pore size, mechanical strength, purity, and chemical phase. Although we specialize in HAP, we can manufacture tri-calcium phosphate (TCP), calcium carbonate, calcium sulfate, other phases of HAP, and multi-phase mixtures(e.g. HAP-TCP, HAP-drug). To ensure customer satisfaction, the quality of our products is routinely verified using standard characterization techniques such as X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Fourier Transform Infra-Red Spectroscopy (FTIR), Scanning, and Transmission Electron Microscopy (SEM and TEM), and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) nitrogen adsorption surface area measurements.
