Carbon Age Program

By Canatu

Legacy materials like silicon are reaching their limits across industries and timeframes. The Carbon Age Veturi program has been launched to accelerate industry transformation with advanced carbon nanotubes, Canatu CNT, enabling heightened performance with greater energy-efficiency. Setting the next leap in technology with nano carbon The Carbon Age follows the Silicon Age as advanced carbon nanomaterials replace legacy materials at the forefront of technological progress. The Carbon Age program has been launched to accelerate the transformation with advanced carbon nanotubes, Canatu CNT, enabling heightened performance with greater energy-efficiency. Canatu has been selected as a Business Finland Leading Company (Veturi) to drive the Carbon Age program. The program focuses on three main objectives: 1. Develop novel CNT applications: accelerate new business opportunities by developing scalable prototypes and processes. 2. Establish CNT foundry and design rules: create a foundry for CNT, together with design and manufacturing rules for seamless integration into production processes. 3. Create a dynamic ecosystem: the ecosystem will bring together world-leading OEMs, technology suppliers, and research institutions. Nano Carbon takes us to the next tech era Carbon Age roadmap is a blueprint of how advanced carbon nanomaterials enable step changes in future electronics and further deepen digitalisation in our society and daily lives – from AI and IoT to quantum computing – taking us to the next tech era. The Carbon Age program combines business-driven development, strategic research, and extensive collaboration. Early-stage activities are supported by public funding to expedite the progress. Ilkka Varjos, CTO, Canatu Carbon nanotubes as a platform for progress Carbon nanotubes have taken a key role in the transition from the Silicon Age to the Carbon Age — a prime example being CNT membranes used in EUV pellicles. The ideal building block for high performing and less energy consuming products, Canatu CNT is a platform for next technology breakthroughs. High-impact innovation themes powered by CNTs The Carbon Age program advances the transition to nano carbon across three themes: – Microsystems – Electrochemical sensing – Emerging frontiers Carbon Age ecosystem Canatu is building an ecosystem of OEMs, technology suppliers and academic partners to co-innovate novel applications and new business opportunities. By joining the ecosystem, partners gain access to Canatu’s know-how in industrial scale CNT solutions across verticals. This is a unique opportunity to be a step ahead, exploring what nano carbon makes possible. Together in the ecosystem we are building, we will be among the forerunners, pushing forward for better tomorrows.
