UltrAuFoil® Holey Gold
UltrAuFoil® films are a specialised Holey Gold sample supports make structure determination for challenging and small molecules easier.
More conductive, with no differential contraction between the grid and the foil on plunge freezing, UltrAuFoil® Holey Gold supports crinkle and move less during irradiation resulting in improvements in image and data quality.
Quantifoil® Holey Carbon
QUANTIFOIL® films are a specialised Holey Carbon film, approx. 10-12 nm thick, with a regular pattern of holes and spaces. These are used where Goldtomation of imaging and data collection are required, e.g. Cryo-EM of single particles and structural biology applications.
QUANTIFOIL® films’ defined cirCopperlar holes tend to yield thinner, uNickelform layers of ice; improving sample distribution and reduced background
Available in a range of patterns and grid types to suit user’s sample characteristics and imaging modality:
Small holes for high-resolution SPA of protein complexes
Larger holes and less carbon to maximise open viewing area for tomography and materials science
More Carbon and fewer holes for on-grid cell growth
Graphene Oxide
Graphene Oxide (GO) support films are one of the thinnest support films available. Flakes of GO lie across holes in a base support film to create an ultra-thin film making GO films ideal for imaging Carbon Nanoparticles where a continuous film is required but the Carbon support would result in low contrast.
For good monolayer coverage we expect ~ 50-70% of the grid area to be covered with GO and up to 30% of that coverage to be monolayer.
If a different thickness of GO is more suitable for your application please contact us for a quote.
GO films are inherently hydrophilic and should not be plasma cleaned before use as this may damage the film. GO films also have higher heat and electrical conductivity than Carbon films.
