Lacey Carbon support films are Holey films which have larger holes and very little Carbon between them, giving the film a web or lace like appearance. Offer a wider range of hole sizes and are more robust than Holey Carbon films so will withstand more rigorous sample pre-treatments. These films are ideal for analysis of larger particles, crystals and nano-wires which will span larger holes, providing background free imaging. Also ideal for coating with Graphene or Graphene Oxide films. Different combinations of grid meshes, pack sizes and film thicknesses are available on request.

Holey Carbon support films have a range of hole sizes distributed irregularly across a flat Carbon film. The smallest holes are often smaller than those found in Quantifoil™ Holey Carbon films. These can be controlled to some degree during the manufacturing process to meet individual requirements, offering a cost effective solution where a continuous Carbon film is not desirable. Ideal for viewing specimens without background support, especially suited for suspensions of viruses or nanoparticles. Different combinations of grid meshes, pack sizes and film thicknesses are available on request.
