20 October 2026. Coherence Quantum, a Finnish quantum hardware company originating from Aalto University's Quantum Computing and Devices (QCD) group, has raised €2.78 million in seed funding. The round is led by Helsinki-based early-stage investor Lifeline Ventures, with participation from technology entrepreneur Mårten Mickos.
The company is developing an integrated cryogenic signalling and control platform for solid-state quantum processors. Its first technologies focus on cryogenic signal conditioning, followed by higher-density signal interfaces and more control functionality inside the cryostat, closer to the quantum processing unit.
"Quantum computers won't scale by adding qubits alone. The infrastructure around them has to scale too," said Aashish Sah, CEO and co-founder of Coherence Quantum.
The team has spent more than two years on research and experimental development of the technologies, with multiple generations of cryogenic prototypes designed, fabricated and tested, including validation in dilution refrigerators using qubit systems. The founding team includes Sah, CTO Suman Kundu and CPO Erkki Soininen, with Mikko Möttönen as founding advisor.
The €2.78 million will be used to establish the company's lab in Espoo, Finland, build its first product prototypes and manufacturing process, continue R&D, and grow the team.

Silicon spin qubits usually lose accuracy when many qubits are driven in parallel, a barrier to scalable quantum processors. Writing in Nature Physics, RIKEN researchers traced the main error source to AC Stark shifts from shared microwave control signals. Their pairwise phase calibration protocol restored gate fidelities above 99.99% for up to three simultaneous qubits, and about 99.9% across all five, near fault-tolerant requirements.
D-Wave Quantum Inc. announced its Advantage2 annealing quantum computer has arrived in Lombardy, Italy, for installation at Villa Saporiti in Como. The system is funded by Swiss Quantum Technology SA under a €10 million agreement.
Riverlane and NVIDIA are collaborating on AI and NVIDIA accelerated computing for quantum error correction. Using the Local Clustering Decoder, a surface code training cycle that took three minutes on a single-core CPU now takes 2.8 seconds.
