Leipzig, 21 October 2025. SPECS Surface Nano Analysis GmbH has completed the transfer of its electron beam and laser welding business to the newly established ELEXON BEAM GmbH as part of a business spin-off. ELEXON BEAM GmbH has commenced operations and is independently continuing the acquired business, assuming full responsibility for all associated operational activities.
ELEXON BEAM GmbH is led by former members of the business unit. The established technical team, familiar technical contacts, and extensive expertise and know-how built up over many years will therefore remain in place. Administrative and commercial processes will be organized in line with the new corporate structure.
For customers and business partners, continuity remains the key priority. ELEXON BEAM will continue to provide the full range of established services, particularly technical service, maintenance, repairs, and job shop welding services, while assuming all associated operational responsibilities.
ELEXON BEAM will also continue operating the existing production facilities and infrastructure for job shop welding and equipment manufacturing. This ensures that established manufacturing capabilities remain immediately available, without the need to build up new production capacity.
In the field of equipment manufacturing, ELEXON BEAM will maintain the existing expertise in electron beam and laser welding technology and will be available for new projects and customized technical solutions. The transfer represents the independent continuation of the business previously operated within SPECS, preserving its expertise, services, and customer relationships under a new corporate structure.
SPECS Surface Nano Analysis GmbH fully supports this transition and is actively facilitating it in a spirit of partnership. Both companies are working closely together to ensure a smooth handover of ongoing projects and business activities. SPECS welcomes the transfer of the business to members of its former team and wishes ELEXON BEAM GmbH every success in its future development.
The contact for electron beam and laser welding, technical service, job shop welding, and equipment manufacturing is ELEXON BEAM GmbH, Naumburger Strasse 28, 04229 Leipzig, Germany.

Breakthrough from a team led by Jacob Covey, associate professor in the University of Chicago’s Pritzker School of Molecular Engineering and Department of Physics, turns helium-3’s low mass into a quantum resource

Researchers at the University of Osaka have developed an autonomous solid-state nanopore that senses molecules, generates electrical signals, and retains memory of recent events without external control. Chemical reactions inside the pore continuously reshape its structure, producing molecule-specific signal patterns. Machine learning distinguished DNA nucleotides and amino acids from these signatures. Published in ACS Nano.
