Spectroscopic Systems for Nanoparticle Analysis

By Applied NanoFluorescence LLC

Applied NanoFluorescence, LLC (ANF) manufactures and sells state-of-the art optical instruments to detect, characterize, and quantify nanomaterials, especially single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNT)and other near-infrared fluorophores in bulk samples (e.g. Ag 2 S and PbS quantum dots). Our analyzers offer the highest sensitivity available plus sophisticated software that automatically deduces and reports detailed sample compositions. Designed by experts in nanoparticle fluorescence measurements ANF was founded in Houston in 2004 by Professor R. Bruce Weisman of Rice University. Dr. Weisman serves as President with Dr. Sergei M. Bachilo as Chief Scientific Officer. Weisman and Bachilo are internationally recognized as the pioneering researchers who led the discovery and interpretation of fluorescence spectra from single-walled carbon nanotubes. The products offered by Applied NanoFluorescence embody these scientists' deep expertise in spectroscopic instrumentation and analysis. Do you work with near-infrared fluorophores such as carbon nanotubes (CNT) and quantum dots (QD)? Then you need a NanoSpectralyzer. Here's why: - CNT Producers can use these instruments to monitor batch-to-batch consistency and quality. - Customers who buy nanotubes can use a NanoSpectralyzer to assess the quality of incoming CNT material. - Biomedical & Environmental Researchers can exploit the NanoSpectralyzers’ very high NIR fluorescence sensitivity to detect and quantify trace concentrations of SWCNTs,PbS QDs or Ag 2 S QDs in complex surroundings. - Educators can use the NanoSpectralyzer in undergraduate and graduate curricula as a way to expose students to innovative, cutting-edge research topics.

Model NM1 Fluorescence Microscope for SWCNT for Single-Walled Carbon Nanotubes

The NM1 is a specialized optical microscope system custom-designed for imaging individual single-walled carbon nanotubes through their intrinsic near-IR fluorescence. - A high quality modular inverted microscope with objective lenses - A focal plane array detector containing 320 x 256 InGaAs pixels, with sensitivity from 850 to 1700 nm, cryogenic cooling for dark current suppression, and calibrations to correct for sensitivity variations and nonlinearity - A fluorescence excitation system including three diode and/or DPSS lasers with electronic beam control, optics for beam combining, polarization control, and focusing - Appropriate optical filters for high contrast imaging of SWCNTs - A computer system for instrument control and data acquisition Versatile Visualization of Individual SWCNT with NIR Fluorescence Microscopy, Tsyboulski et al, Nano Letters (2005) 5, 975-979

Custom Solutions - NanoSpectralyzer with an extended range InGaAs detector

The spectral range of the standard NanoSpectralyzer can be expanded by adding a second thermoelectrically cooled multichannel spectrometer to detect NIR emission between approximately 1200 and 2100 nm with a resolution of approximately 8 nm. This instrument modification will also allow absorption spectra to be measured from 400 to 2100 nm.
