The center's mission is to design, manufacture, and characterize next-generation nature-inspired materials and structures by integrating artificial intelligence (AI), mechanistically-based design methodologies, smart manufacturing, and state-of-the-art characterization techniques. Research activities includes state-of-the-art mechanical and materials characterization, 3D- and 4D-printing assisted advanced manufacturing, computational simulation, numerical analysis, and theoretical modeling.
