The internal charge rate applies to all microscope use by Monash staff and students who are working on internal University projects. The current internal charge for electron microscope use is $60/hr. There is also a one-off charge of $1000 for all new users (training or client use). There is no charge for a reasonable amount of Client work carried out by a MCEM staff member on behalf of a Monash user (other than for microscope time) but the amount of Client work that can be undertaken is limited. This internal charge rate represents a small fraction of the real cost of maintaining and operating these multi-million dollar instruments and of the cost of providing expert staff to train and support users.
