Our group innovates light manipulation using metasurfaces, merging lasers with nanoscale control of light properties. This leads to breakthroughs in imaging, spectroscopy, AI, and laser-plasma interactions. Our group pushes the boundaries of light manipulation by exploring its multimodal dimensions in both spatial and temporal domains. We specialize in combining coherent light with nanoscale manipulation of polarization, amplitude, phase, time and frequency through metasurfaces—the state-of-the-art in structured light technology. We focus on unlock new possibilities at the intersection of lasers and metasurfaces. This synergy opens new frontiers in areas like high-resolution imaging, frequency comb spectroscopy, artificial intelligence and laser-plasma interactions. Research Topics - High-power structured light-matter interactions - Meta-optics technology - Ultrafast spatiotemporal beams and frequency combs - AI based on optical neural networks Scientific Areas - Metamaterials - Nanophotonics - Laser technology and laser optics - Frequency combs Technical Expertise Our know-how and facilities cover all steps of the research process, from the simulation and nanofabrication of the nanophotonic devices to their characterization and embedding in laser systems. Photonic design is based on finite-difference time-domain and frequency-domain solvers. Our micro and nanofabrication of optical components uses direct laser writing and electron beam lithography, in combination with specialized etching processes. Our structured light laboratory enables device characterization.
