N-type Antimonides

MBN has developed a high-performance n-type thermoelectric powder based on the Mg₃(Sb,Bi)₂ system. This class of materials represents one of the most promising tellurium-free alternatives for low- and mid-temperature thermoelectric applications, combining intrinsically low thermal conductivity with favourable electronic transport. Through optimised doping and partial substitution of Sb with Bi, MBN achieved enhanced carrier concentration and extended efficiency range, resulting in a peak ZT of 1.6 near 350 °C. Synthesised via the proprietary Mechanomade® mechanosynthesis, the powder is uniformly mixed at the atomic scale, ensuring controlled phase formation and fine morphology. Spark Plasma Sintering (SPS) enables rapid densification while preserving the nanostructure that suppresses phonon transport. The resulting components combine high electrical conductivity, low thermal conductivity, and robust mechanical integrity for long-term operation in thermoelectric devices. COMPOSITION Magnesium bal. – Antimony 48% – Bismuth 28% PROPERTIES Seebeck coefficient –230 to –240 μV/K Electrical resistivity 30–35 μΩ·m Thermal conductivity 0.8–0.9 W/mK ZT 1.2 Power factor 1.6 mW/mK²

With advanced workflow and technology, we work in partnership with our clients to meet their customized expression and purification needs and ensure high-throughput protein production, including recombinant antibodies for antibody drug conjugate development. Proteins are important biological macromolecules as they play key roles in almost every biological process of a living organism. Determining and understanding the 3D structure of a protein is essential for deciphering the mechanistic details about how a protein performs its activities. In small molecule drug discovery of any therapeutic area, it is a prerequisite to produce an enzymatically active recombinant protein that is equivalent to the native enzyme to understand its function/activity in an in-vitro setting. Towards this, the Structural Biology team at Jubilant Biosys provides: (A) enzymatically active recombinant soluble proteins, overexpressed from E. coli or baculovirus-insect cells or mammalian cells. (B) co-crystal structures of any soluble recombinant protein through X-ray crystallography using in-house X-ray diffraction facility, as well as accessing Australian Synchrotron beam. (C) stable cell lines that express protein-of-interest. This team has the experience of working with more than 20 pharmaceutical/biotech companies worldwide and made the following success stories. - Solved 11 novel structures and 5 fab complex structures. - Delivered > 250 co-crystal structures for ~40 different targets. - 7 publications in peer reviewed international journals. - Delivered > 300 proteins for assays from ~ 80 different targets. - Generated ~400 clones. Currently, the Structural Biology team has been focusing on biophysical platforms (SPR, Surface Plasmon Resonance using Pioneer FE system) to facilitate FBDD (Fragment Based Drug Discovery) support to clients.

Parallel & Library Synthesis

Parallel synthesis and Library synthesis are two important tools in modern drug discovery. They enable the synthesis of a large number of closely related analogues in a short time following general synthetic transformations. Thus, parallel library synthesis has the potential to reduce the cycle time of medicinal chemistry efforts significantly. Therefore, in the past few decades, we found that the synthesis of focused small molecule libraries are very useful for the optimization of drug leads. Jubilant Biosys has over 15 years of rich experience in the synthesis of custom libraries. We have a strong track record of delivering several focused libraries ranging from 20-300 compounds and large libraries of up to 6000 compounds. We have a dedicated team of highly skilled and experienced chemists capable of performing complex chemical synthesis and purification. We are fully equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure and highly proficient in parallel synthesis, high throughput purification, compound analysis, and management.

Salt screening

Salt screening is the process of co-crystallising a compound in the presence of counter-ions, with the aim of identifying novel solid forms that display improved performance characteristics and is applied to any molecule with one or more basic or acidic center. Salt forms often display improved performance characteristics over their free-form equivalent; dissolution rate, stability, and hygroscopicity can often be improved by employing a salt screening drug development strategy. Salt forms display polymorphism in the same way as free APIs. Polymorph screening is recommended on any novel salt forms, in order to fully understand their solid-form behaviour. Salt screening is an approach to quickly identify and assess the salt forms of an API and allows drug formulators to modify the physical properties of an API while preserving the benefits of a crystalline solid form. Salts of an API, often improve the APIs solubility, stability, crystallinity and can grow the solid-state portfolio of the API.

Degraders Chemistry

Proteolysis targeting chimaeras (PROTACs), PHOTACS (photochemically targeted chimaeras) and LYTAC (lysozyme targeting chimaeras) are heterobifunctional molecules based on the combination of ubiquitin E3 ligase ligands with an inhibitor of the protein of interest (POI) via different types of linkers. With this design, the protein of interest can be degraded, which may have different biological effects compared to classical inhibition. This technique has some advantages, as it can be used for undruggable targets. Additionally, PROTACs act in very low concentrations, and they can provide increased selectivity for the target of interest rather than the original small molecule inhibitor. Jubilant Biosys, keeping pace with the recent developments in the field of PROTAC, PHOTAC and LYTAC, created an efficient and highly skilled group of synthetic and analytical chemists led by project leaders trained from various national and international premier organizations to undertake the synthesis of these complex molecules. This group can synthesise these complex molecules in a very short time with very high purity. A variety of ligands (thalidomide, lenalidomide, pomalidomide, VHL, glycopeptides) with linkers of varying sizes, synthesised internally, is used regularly for the synthesis of these compounds. The synthetic group is supported by a highly proficient analytical team, which purifies and analyses the intermediates and final compounds before shipping them to the clients. In the recent past, we have been able to synthesise, purify and characterise these molecules with molecular weights ranging from 450 to 2400. In addition to the synthesis of commercially available ligands on the multigram scale, we are also well-versed in developing novel structures. We also have an elaborate Project management group which looks after the project from the initiation to delivery. This group also takes care of all the shipment requirements especially when required under controlled conditions (~ -20 o C).

SUMOstar Mammalian Expression

While LifeSensors offers both yeast (SUMOpro) and human (SUMOpro3) tags with corresponding SUMO proteases 1 and 2, respectively, in mammalian expression endogenous SUMO proteases can cleave the protein, preventing expression and purification. SUMOstar is designed to prevent the above issue by using an engineered SUMO tag to prevent cleavage and preserve the enhanced protein production properties of SUMO. Isolated SUMOstar fusions from eukaryotic cells can be cleaved efficiently via SUMOstar protease in vitro. Service Highlights: SUMOstar prevents cleavage in eukaryotic cells preserving key properties for enhanced expression; Dramatically enhances protein expression and solubility, reducing costs in costly mammalian cells; SUMOstar protease enables removal of tag to generate native N-terminini

PROTACs & Molecular Glues

PROTACs ® (PRoteolysis-TArgeting Chimeric molecules) artificially hijack the components of the UPS to degrade a target protein. PROTAC drugs are hetero-bifunctional small molecules that contain two functional ligands connected via a linker; one ligand binds to a target protein and the other ligand binds to an E3 ligase.

Yeast Expression Services (SUMOstar and SUMOpro3)

Yeast, especially Pichia pastoris and Saccharomyces cerevisiae, are also commonly used for protein expression. LifeSensors offers both SUMOstar and SUMOpro3 systems for secretory expression in Pichia, while SUMOstar is available and recommended for Saccharomyces intracellular expression. SUMO Protease 2 is compatible with SUMOpro3 expression while SUMOstar Protease is designed to work with SUMOstar. Service Highlights: Eukaryotic expression for proper folding and wider domains; Efficient secretion into media for Pichia; Increases protein solubility, Fast growth, high yields; Precise tag removal following protease cleavage

SUMO-Tag Protein Expression & Purification

Protein expression and production of recombinant proteins routinely encounters problems, including formation of inclusion bodies, incorrect protein conformation, toxicity to the host cell, and low protein yield.

SUMOstar Insect Expression

Insects like many eukaryotic organisms possesses endogenous SUMO proteases that will cleave a protein expressed with a traditional SUMO tag. The insect cell protein expression system, typically using the Baculovirus Expression Vector System (BEVS), involves cloning a target gene into a plasmid vector that generates a bacmid. This bacmid is used to create and amplify recombinant baculoviruses in insect cells such as SF9 expression a target protein. LifeSensors SUMOstar system is recommended for this application. Service Highlights: SUMOstar brings SUMO expression benefits to Insect cells; Dramatically enhances recombinant protein expression, reducing costs, BEVS supported for high yields; Lower cost than mammalian, suitable for structural studies; Especially attractive for therapeutic protein production

Bacterial Expression Services (SUMOpro and SUMOstar)

The SUMOpro tag system is based off our SUMO protein expression platform to maximize the yield of soluble and functional proteins with a native N-terminus. Precise tag removal relies on LifeSensors’ highly specific SUMO proteases, which recognize the tertiary structure of the tag at the N-terminus of the partner protein and cleaves the junction at discrete residues outside the protein sequence. Therefore, SUMO proteases are superior to other proteases commonly used in prokaryotic expression systems that may non-specifically cleave within the protein of interest or leave extra residues behind. By linking a His6 tag to both the SUMOpro fusion tag and SUMO protease, the system allows efficient and rapid purification of untagged proteins using immobilized metal affinity chromatography. SUMOpro fusion, thus, makes purifying your protein easy and affordable. LifeSensors offers both yeast (SUMOpro) and human (SUMOpro3) tags with corresponding SUMO proteases 1 and 2, respectively for Bacterial Expression. Service Highlights: Convenient, directional cloning of your gene-of-interest in frame with the SUMOpro and SUMOpro3 tag(s); Dramatically enhances recombinant protein expression, reducing costs; Increases protein solubility; Precise tag removal following protease cleavage
