Physical chemistry of surfactant systems

By Institute for Advanced Chemistry of Catalonia (IQAC-CSIC)

The general research topic is the physical chemistry of surfactants and surfactant-based systems. Special attention is paid to dynamic transformations (emulsification and solubilization) and the behaviour of new biocompatible surfactants. The main techniques used are SAXS-WAXS, light scattering, tensiometry, conductivity, and ion-selective electrode. These techniques can be applied to characterise the structure of systems over a range from sub-nanometre to millimetre scale.
